From The Couch - BIG Win Against Oklahoma, But Can The Cats Keep The Momentum Going?

A short-handed K-State football team beat number three Oklahoma 38-35 in Norman yesterday in one of the biggest upsets in school history.   While it wasn't always pretty, the Cats never gave up and fought valiantly to pull out the win.  Let's take a look at what the players, coaches and media had to say about the victory. "Any chance in the world Kansas State makes it two in a row against Oklahoma?"... Rece Davis, College Gameday JM:  The College Gameday crew unanimously picked Oklahoma to win in a blowout against K-State.  Read on... "I HIGHLY doubt that.  I'm going Sooners." ...Desmond Howard, College Gameday JM:  Emphasis on "HIGHLY." "Boomer Sooner, Kirk." ... David Pollack, College Gameday "Oklahoma BIIIIIG." ...Lee Corso, College Gameday JM:  Lee Corso is just a caricature of himself anymore.  Granted, I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one.  I picked K-State to cover the 28 point spread, but I didn&#

From The Couch - K-State Football Excitement Level: Zero?

There appears to be zero buzz about K-State football this fall.  Losing to Arkansas State in week one didn't help, but I think there's way more at play than losing to Arkansas State.  Let's take a look at the latest news about K-State football and try to dissect where the problems lie. “We haven’t had a good week dealing with COVID already this week, with losing some guys,” Klieman said. “It’s just going to be a nonstop battle.”... Chris Klieman, Chris Klieman Radio Show, Thursday September 17 JM:  Wow, this doesn't sound good.  I watched Chris Klieman's media press conference this week and Klieman looks stressed, frustrated and depressed.  Definitely a different aura than we have seen from him in the past. "Klieman said the Wildcats took the field against Arkansas State without 35-40 players last week. And around 12 of the active players that entered the game had been out for two weeks before getting the all-clear to return to practice about three days

From The Couch - Disappointing Loss Against Arkansas State

Week one didn't turn out as planned for the Wildcats, losing 35-31 to Arkansas State.  Offensive line issues seemed to be the biggest problem, but two missed field goals and numerous mistakes on both sides of the ball led to a very sloppy effort overall.  Let's recap the game and take a look at some of the post game comments. "Will Jones blocks the punt and Kansas State is in business!" ...Gus Johnson, Fox JM:  K-State held Arkansas State to a three and out on the first drive of the game and blocked the punt and recovered the ball on the 19 yard line.  Pretty good start! "TOUCHDOWN, Kansas State!  Phillip Brooks!" ...Gus Johnson, Fox JM:  Two plays after the blocked punt, Skylar Thompson threw a touchdown pass to Phillip Brooks to put K-State up 7-0. "You can't start the game any better." ...Joel Klatt, Fox JM:  This is exactly what I said at the time.  Unfortunately, Arkansas State got the ball and marched right down the field for a touchd
