I Lose a Friend and K-State Loses A Superfan Way Too Soon

    My friend and K-State superfan Scott Thomas died early this morning after a battle with lung cancer.  He was 50 years old.  A mutual friend and I drove to see him in Hutchinson yesterday.  He was aware we were there, but he could not really speak or communicate with us.  It was hard to see him in that condition, but I'm glad we made the last-minute trip to spend some time with him.  Just hours after we left he was gone. Scott and I met in the early '90s at K-State and he was a couple of years ahead of me in school.  We both lived in Moore Hall and we sang in Men's Glee Club together.  We traveled together on some east coast trips with Glee Club, one year to Washington DC.  We had a concert in Lincoln, Nebraska the day before one of the K-State/Nebraska games and the Nebraska athletic department gave us free tickets to sit on the sideline behind the team benches.  The problem was that it was hard to see the game from those seats.  After about 10 or 15 minutes we decided

Is Art Garfunkel A K-State Fan?

    The Peacock Network has a free preview this weekend and I saw that they have every episode of Saturday Night Live on it.  I'm a huge fan of the original cast up until about the mid-1990s and I watched the first couple of episodes because I have never watched them.  The first episode was hosted by George Carlin and the second episode was hosted by Paul Simon.  Simon brought on Art Garfunkel for a Simon & Garfunkel reunion of sorts.  I guess they had broken up at this point.  Anyway, that got me thinking of the last time Simon & Garfunkel performed together.  A quick search brought up the video above of Art Garfunkel doing a concert in California in 2019.  I noticed that he is wearing an old school K-State Willie the Wildcat t-shirt during this concert.  That got me curious as to his ties to K-State and wondering why he is wearing the t-shirt. From The Couch - Key Players Transfer Off The K-State Basketball Team

    Bruce Weber lost three key players off the basketball team roster this week when Antonio Gordon, DaJuan Gordon, and Rudi Williams all hit the transfer portal. It's pretty hard, if not near impossible, to run a successful basketball program with this kind of turnover every year. Let's take a look at what happened.... "I want to thank the people of Manhattan for their tremendous love and support throughout this year. I would also like to thank my teammates for accepting me and loving me like a brother. I would lastly like to thank Coach Weber, Coach (Brad) Korn, coach (Chris) Lowery, Coach (Shane) Southwell, and Coach (Jermaine) Henderson for giving me the opportunity to play at this university.
